About This Course:

Build a strong foundation in Visual Testing for industrial inspection. This course equips participants with essential knowledge of visual inspection techniques and defect identification used in fabrication and welding industries.

Who Should Attend: Welding / Production Supervisors; Welders; NDT Technicians; QC Inspectors; Mechanical Engineers; Quality Managers, Supervisors. 

Participant Prerequisites:

Below are the recommended minimum participant prerequisites for entry into this training programme. These prerequisites have been verified as essential to successful performance in the programme and on the job.

  1. Physical traits or abilities
    1. Fit and healthy, Good eye sight to Jaeger 2
    2. Colour blindness 
    3. Able to stand for long periods of time
    4. Able to express ideas  and practice in a team based establishment
  1. Previously learned skills
    1. have basic knowledge of engineering industry
    2. able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 4;
    3. be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 4; and
    4. be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 4

    1. Metric and Imperial system
    2. Basics knowledge of Non-destructive testing
    3. WSH rules and regulations
  1. Previously acquired attitudes

Entry Requirements : Age: 16 years and above

Organization Experience : Minimum 3 months

ASNT NDT REQUIREMENTS:

An individual certified to Visual Testing Level 1 has to demonstrate competence to carry out NDT according to written instructions and under the supervision of Level 2 or Level 3 personnel. Within the scope of the competence defined on the certificate, Visual Testing Level 1 personnel may be authorised by the employer to perform the following in accordance with NDT instructions

The requirements for Penetrant Level 2 are: 3 months supervised work experience additional to Level 1 (4 months direct to Level 2).

Once the 12 additional hours training have been obtained, the examination passed, and 3 additional months supervised work experience obtained within 24 months of passing the exam, Cutech will issue certification based on employer's written practice.

The minimum requirements for Level 2 are additional to requirements already satisfied for Level 1.  If you are wishing to go direct to Level 2, the minimum work experience is 6 months, and the minimum training is 32 hours.  Note: The examination may be taken before the work experience is completed; however certificates are not issued until proof of work experience is provided.  After passing the examination, a results notice is issued by PCN, you then have 24 months to complete the required work experience.  For employer based schemes the expected amount of work experience should be determined in the written practice.

The VT Level 2 examination includes a general theory paper, specific paper, and a practical exam.
